It's always good to get away from the city, not that Sun Moon Lake, Nantou was any less crowded. We took a boat around the lake and the view was pretty good, not amazing but good. Unfortunately, it was rather foggy on the day that we went and by the time we'd finished lunch, it was too foggy for the boat to take us back, so we had to take a cab around a rather winding road. We checked in at Jiji Old Town which was about an hour and a half drive from Sun Moon Lake. This homestay was a mansion owned by a family, there are about 10 rooms which, are open for tourists to stay in. Each room comes with a fully equipped toilet with a huge jacuzzi tub. That was definitely my favourite part.
The last two days were spent at 2 different hot springs in Taipei. One at Wulai & another at Beitou. Wulai was so much better in my opinion, though a bit less convenient to travel to. Beitou was just too touristy and crowded for me.
Shabu Shabu near our hotel in Beitou
We visited the garment wholesale market, Wu Fen Bu, and it was MASSIVE. There were so much clothes but I did not buy one single thing because I don't really like Taiwan fashion. I did however find a few pieces of clothing at other markets in Taipei.
Usually, people head to Raohe food night market after visiting Wu Fen Bu because they're just a few minutes walk from each other, and that's what we did. Raohe has better layout and more variety than Shihlin, definitely a must go!
Freshly made dumplings
One the last night, we bought a couple of boxes of pineapple cakes. They're just so good. They're like pineapple tarts, but way taster and more generous with the pineapple.
